Haaland: What Happens Now Will Be a Bonus for Us

When Norway secured their first-ever victory in the FIFA World Cup knockout stage, striker Erling Haaland described the moment as historic. After reaching the round of 16 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Norway’s striker Haaland called this achievement remarkable and extraordinary. By defeating Ivory Coast 2–1, Norway advanced to the knockout stage for the first time in 28 years and will face Brazil in the next round.

Haaland has already scored five goals in this World Cup, and he said that going forward, they will play freely with no pressure, viewing any further success as a bonus for the team. He stated, “This is history; it feels amazing. After 28 years, we succeeded in qualifying. We managed to get past the group stage, and now we have progressed to face Brazil in New York.”

“This is incredible, so whatever happens next will be a bonus. Now we can play without any pressure and enjoy ourselves because I don’t think we will experience this again,” he added. Norway advanced to the round of 16 by beating Ivory Coast 2–1 in the round of 32. With the score tied 1–1, Haaland scored the decisive goal that secured the team’s victory.
