Cape Verde Coach Bubista Reflects After Match Against Argentina: ‘We Showcased Our Identity’
Following their performance against former champions Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Cape Verde coach Bubista praised his players for their proud and dignified display at the tournament. “Our players demonstrated a proud and respectful performance at the World Cup. We showcased who we are,” he said. For the first time in the World Cup, Cape Verde managed draws against two-time world winner Uruguay, 2010 champions Spain, and Saudi Arabia. In the knockout stage, they faced a narrow 3–2 defeat against former champions Argentina.
Coach Bubista emphasized that they represented their country with pride, stating, “We felt a deep sense of pride in showing what our country stands for. We secured draws against two world champions and took the match against another former winner into extra time.”
