155 Players Selected for NPL, 52 to be Contracted
June 4, Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected 155 players for the player auction of the third edition of the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL). According to CAN, a total of 347 players had registered for the tournament, from which 155 players have been shortlisted for the auction scheduled to take place in Kathmandu on Monday.
The selected players are categorized as follows: 5 in Category ‘A’, 27 in Category ‘B’, and 123 in Category ‘C’. Through the auction, eight franchise teams will contract a total of 52 players. This season, CAN has planned to include two additional Nepali players in each franchise team. Including those selected through marquee and talent hunt processes, each team will have a total of 14 Nepali players.
Before the auction, the remaining purse amounts for the eight teams are as follows: Sudurpashchim Royals – NPR 4,250,000; Kathmandu Gorkhas – NPR 3,400,000; Karnali Yaks – NPR 4,200,000; Chitwan Rhinos – NPR 4,200,000; Pokhara Avengers – NPR 4,550,000; Lumbini Lions – NPR 4,925,000; Biratnagar Kings – NPR 5,150,000; Janakpur Bolts – NPR 6,625,000.
