South Korean Students Support Educational Improvements in Nepal’s Community Schools

A group of 26 students from 19 universities in South Korea is volunteering to enhance the educational environment of community schools in Nepal. This team has already completed painting school buildings, repairing drainage systems, and constructing playgrounds at Shri Saraswati Secondary School located in Bhaktapur. From next Tuesday, the Korean students plan to continue their volunteer work at Shwet Varah Secondary School in Kavre district.

These 26 students and their representatives arrived in Nepal on July 20 under the auspices of South Korea’s government organization, Saemaul Center Korea (New Village Movement). Currently, they are working in community schools across Bhaktapur and Kavre districts, undertaking physical improvements such as painting classrooms, repairing and constructing drainage systems, and building playgrounds for children.

In addition to these infrastructural enhancements, they are also conducting various programs focused on skill development and health awareness for Nepali students. Recently, on Sunday, at Shri Saraswati Secondary School situated in Thakalmath, Changunarayan Municipality-8, Bhaktapur, the team completed repairs and painting of the school building along with the construction of a playground featuring artificial grass. To mark the completion of this project, the school organized a special ceremony to express appreciation and bid farewell to the Korean volunteer team. Following the conclusion of their work in Bhaktapur, the team is scheduled to continue their volunteer efforts at Shwet Varah Secondary School in Kavre district starting next Tuesday.
