Common People’s Party Urges Ensuring Public Peace, Security, and Professional Protection for Healthcare Workers

August 14, Kathmandu – The Common People’s Party, Parsa District Committee, has expressed serious concern over the assault on doctors working at Narayani Hospital in Parsa and the subsequent police misconduct towards protesting doctors. In a statement issued by Ranjukumari Sah, In-charge of AJAPA Parsa, attention was drawn to the attack on healthcare workers involved in patient care and the police’s abusive behavior against the protesting medical staff.

Sah highlighted that following a dispute in Kaptanganj, Dewanganj-3, Sunsari district, where irresponsible gunfire by security forces triggered unrest spreading to Biratnagar in Sunsari and Morang districts, this incident in Parsa adds to the distress. The statement reads, “Even before the Sunsari incident was settled, the assault on doctors performing their duties in Parsa and the police superintendent’s push and mistreatment of protesting doctors during an ongoing dialogue attended by the Chief District Officer is extremely regrettable.”

In-charge Sah commented that this series of events shows that the Nepal government and its subordinate security agencies are acting intolerantly and aggressively toward ordinary citizens and professional staff, creating fear among the general public. She demands that the government take full responsibility for the incidents in Sunsari and Parsa, conduct an impartial and factual investigation, promptly impose strict penalties on those found guilty, ensure the peace and security of the public, fully guarantee the professional security of healthcare workers, and immediately resume essential health services.
