Seven Dead After Four-Story Building Collapses in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra

August 1, Kathmandu – At least seven people have died after a four-story building collapsed in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, India. The incident occurred amid ongoing heavy rainfall causing flooding in various districts. The collapse of the building in Bhiwandi resulted in the loss of these lives. Rescue teams suspect that two more individuals remain trapped under the rubble and continue search and rescue operations.

According to local legislator Mahesh Chougule, the building was already in a severely dilapidated state and had been declared a risky structure. Although residents were relocated to safer places, some individuals were carrying out repair work on the building’s pillars when the accident occurred. Chougule stated that among those trapped under the debris are believed to be several laborers and members of one family. While some locals claim the building collapsed due to the incessant heavy rain, the exact cause of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed.
