Dharm Gautam Releases the Book ‘BP and Those Days of Rebellion’

Dharm Gautam from Ilam has released a book titled ‘BP and Those Days of Rebellion,’ which chronicles the armed struggle called by BP Koirala against the Panchayat system. According to Kalpana Dhakal, CEO of Kitab Publishers, the book primarily includes Gautam’s personal and political memoirs. Gautam, who went into exile in India in 1972 (Nepali year 2029), was arrested with weapons during the armed struggle and also spent four years in prison after being detained again while returning to Nepal.

On July 8, Kathmandu – Documenting the armed resistance initiated by BP Koirala against the Panchayat regime, Dharm Gautam from Ilam has published ‘BP and Those Days of Rebellion.’ Before returning to Nepal in 1976 (Nepali year 2033) after adopting a policy of reconciliation, BP initially sent three trusted confidants to Nepal, one of whom was Gautam. Publisher and CEO Kalpana Dhakal stated that Gautam incorporated his personal and political recollections in the book.

Since going into exile in India in 1972, Gautam remained close to BP Koirala. He actively participated in the armed struggle called by BP to end the Panchayat system. During this period, he was arrested with weapons in Purnia, India. Under BP’s direction, he was arrested again in November 1976 while returning to Nepal and spent approximately four years in prison. Gautam’s narrative reveals how his political journey began in Ilam and progressed through Naxalbari in India, Banaras, and Bihar before reaching Kathmandu.
