Kundanraj Kafle Identifies Internal Divisions Among Congress Members as Party’s Weakness

29 Shrawan, Kathmandu – Nepali Congress leader Kundanraj Kafle has pointed out that the tendency of some Congress members to look down upon their fellow party members to elevate themselves has been weakening the party. Speaking at a meeting of an anti-establishment faction, Kafle indirectly targeted party president Gagan Thapa with these remarks. “In the past, when the Congress in Mechi was in pain, the Congress in Mahakali would also feel the hurt. That was why the Congress was strong,” he said. “Today, a culture has developed where one Congress member tries to undermine another. Who is responsible for this?” Kafle emphasized that the party must engage in serious reflection on this issue.

He further explained that a trend has emerged within the Congress where some members regard certain parts of the party as inferior to portray themselves as superior. “The culture of weakening others to become strong is a virus within today’s Congress. This virus must be eradicated by the 15th general convention,” he remarked. Kafle alleged that this kind of behavior is exhibited even among the party’s leadership. “If this virus is not treated immediately, no one will be safe,” he added.
