Bagmati Auto Gymkhana Prix Scheduled for September 29; Winner to Compete in Asia Championship

The second edition of the Bagmati Auto Gymkhana Prix will be held on September 29 at the Oxford Driving Training Center in Lolang, Tarkeshwor. The winner will earn the opportunity to participate in the Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship, to be held in either Hong Kong or India. Additionally, the top two drivers will receive cash prizes totaling NPR 75,000 along with support. The total prize pool for the competition has been set at NPR 200,000, and registration remains open until this Friday, according to the organizers.

Supported by the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, this competition began last year and will again take place at the Oxford Driving Training Center in Lolang, Tarkeshwor. Sponsored primarily by Extreme Energy and Liqui Moly Lubricants, the Prix’s winner will gain entry to the Asia Auto Gymkhana Championship (AAGC) hosted in Hong Kong or India. The top two performers will be awarded a combined cash prize of NPR 75,000 from AAGC organizers, along with sports equipment and additional assistance provided by the FIA and Bagmati Province Sports Development Council.

All drivers participating in the competition will be covered by sports insurance. The Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) will supply racing suits and technical training. The entry fee has been set at NPR 9,999, and drivers may compete using vehicles of any engine capacity. The organizers have stated that if at least 10 female participants register, a separate category will be organized exclusively for women.

To participate, drivers must be affiliated with an organization or a corporate entity. The gymkhana event will be held on a short, artistically designed track, combining speed, technical skill, and artistic driving. Competitors will be evaluated based on driving ability, vehicle condition, control, discipline, and successful track navigation. NASA Nepal will manage skilled marshals, timing systems, and safety protocols. For event management, a team including Yaduraj Lamichhane, Ashish Rauniyar, and Ankit Bhandari has been formed, which will also oversee the arrangements for this year’s international participation alongside the competition.
