Gandaki Province Allocates Relief Funds Ranging from NPR 50,000 to 100,000 for Flood Victims

The Gandaki Province government has decided to deposit NPR 40 million into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The cabinet has approved compensation of NPR 100,000 for families of the deceased and missing persons, and NPR 25,000 for funeral expenses of the deceased. Additionally, NPR 50,000 will be provided to flood-injured individuals to cover medical treatment costs. The government has also arranged transportation from Pokhara airport to homes for those arriving by air.

Pokhara, September 1. The Gandaki Province government has committed NPR 40 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. In a cabinet meeting held today, officials decided on allocating funds to the relief fund, covering medical expenses for injured residents, and granting NPR 100,000 to families of the deceased, according to government spokesperson and Finance Minister Jit Bahadur Sherchan.

“The cabinet meeting today resolved to deposit NPR 40 million into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. We have decided to provide NPR 100,000 each to the families of the deceased and missing persons,” stated Sherchan. “Additionally, NPR 25,000 has been allocated for funeral expenses of the deceased.” Furthermore, NPR 50,000 will be provided to those injured in the floods to help with treatment costs.

Due to a landslide blocking the road at Krishnabhir in Dhading along the Prithvi Highway, the Gandaki Province government has also arranged to transport individuals arriving by air to Pokhara directly to their homes. Sherchan urged private sectors, organizations, and political parties to unite and assist in facing the disaster alongside the government.
