Everest View Trail Race in Solukhumbu Receives International Accreditation
The ‘Everest View Trail Race’ organized by Mabu Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu has received international accreditation from the renowned French organization ‘Ultra-Trail’. The International Trail Running Association (ITRA) awarded the race three points, which will assist runners in qualifying for other prestigious trail races worldwide. The rural municipality chairperson, Buddhikiran Rai, stated that this recognition marks a successful effort to link tourism, nature, culture, and adventure travel. Kathmandu, 24 Bhadra.
The ‘Everest View Trail Race’ held in Solukhumbu’s Mabu Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality has gained international recognition. This adventurous race, which promotes tourism, nature conservation, and sports development, has been officially endorsed by the famous global ‘Ultra-Trail’ organization based in France. Additionally, the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) has assigned three points to this competition. Participants who complete the certified trail will earn points corresponding to the distance and elevation challenges, helping them qualify for other distinguished international trail races around the world.
Following the international accreditation announcement, Chairperson Buddhikiran Rai emphasized the significance of this achievement in linking sports with tourism, nature, culture, and adventure travel campaigns. He said, “This recognition offers an opportunity to showcase the natural and cultural heritage of Mabu Dudhkoshi to the world.” The trail itself spans approximately 48 kilometers, with maximum and minimum altitudes of 3,181 meters and 1,803 meters, respectively. Runners are allowed a maximum of 7 hours and 45 minutes to complete the race. The course starts from the under-construction Korku stadium and passes through Mahbir, Silgudi, Kudhyo high camp, and the Kailasnath Mahadev temple before finishing back at Korku stadium. During the race, runners will enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Numbur, Thamserku, and Mera. Adventure spots like Blas Waterfall and Mahbir add to the trail’s appeal.
