Siddhartha Bank Accelerates Preparations for the 18th Kathmandu Marathon 2026
Kathmandu – Siddhartha Bank has intensified preparations for the 18th Kathmandu Marathon 2026, scheduled to take place on October 10 at the Dashrath Rangashala in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. Approximately 7,000 participants have already registered for the event, which features five different race categories. According to the organizers, the marathon includes a full marathon (42.195 kilometers), a half marathon (21 kilometers), and races of 10 kilometers, 5 kilometers, and 3 kilometers. All races will start outside Dashrath Rangashala and conclude within the stadium.
The full marathon route will cover several prominent areas of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. Runners will pass through Satdobato, Gwarko, Koteshwor, Kaushaltar, Thimi, Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur, Pepsicol, Gaushala, Pashupatinath, Chabahil, Maharajgunj, Panipokhari, and Kingsway before returning to the Rangashala. The half marathon route encompasses Thapathali, Kupondol, Pulchok, Mangalbazar, Gwarko, Koteshwor, the airport area, Gaushala, Chabahil, Maharajgunj, and Kingsway. The 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km routes will also include various key locations across Kathmandu, as informed by the organizers.
Along the race routes, water and sponge stations will be available, along with medical and physiotherapy services and deployment of volunteers. Participants will receive race bibs and T-shirts on October 8 and 9 at the swimming pool complex located in Satdobato. The deadline for final registration is September 30, 2026, organizers have stated. Coordination with traffic police and related agencies is ongoing to ensure proper traffic management and security during the event. A press conference providing detailed information about the marathon is scheduled for October 1.
Siddhartha Bank is the main sponsor of the event, with Cathay Pacific, Himalayan Everest Insurance, Nepal Telecom, and various other organizations participating as partners and supporters. The marathon will be broadcast live on Space Four Television. Through this event, the organizers aim to promote a healthy lifestyle and position Kathmandu as an international sports destination.
