Nepal Defeats Oman A by 2 Wickets in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Warm-up Match

21 October, Kathmandu — In a warm-up match ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series, the Nepalese cricket team secured a victory against Oman A in Oman. The match, held on Wednesday at Oman Cricket Academy Turf 2, saw Nepal chase down a target of 161 runs set by Oman, ultimately winning by 2 wickets.

Oman batted first after losing the toss and were all out for 160 runs in 39.5 overs. Oman captain Hammad Mirza top-scored with 54 runs, while Zakriya Islam and Sanju Sajeeb contributed 35 and 34 runs respectively.

In response, Nepal chased the target successfully, scoring 161 runs with 10 balls remaining, losing 8 wickets in the process. Ishan Pande was the leading scorer for Nepal with 72 runs, followed by Asif Sheikh who made 37 runs, and Dev Khanal who remained unbeaten on 34. Gulshan Jha also made a significant contribution with 30 runs.

Among the bowlers, Nandan Yadav took 3 wickets for 17 runs in 5 overs, while Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed 2 wickets each. Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi, and Shahab Alam each took one wicket.

Next week, an ODI series under League 2 will commence in Oman featuring Nepal, Oman, and Canada.
