Sarlahi District Imposes Ban on DJ Music Following Sunsari Incident

12 Shrawan, Sarlahi – Following the incident in Sunsari, a ban on using DJs has been implemented in Sarlahi as well. The dispute over playing DJ music escalated tensions in Sunsari, and its impact was observed in other Terai districts. As a result, the Sarlahi District Administration has prohibited the use of DJs across the district. On Tuesday, the administration issued a press release announcing the ban on DJ music throughout the district.

The conflict began late Sunday night in Devaganj Rural Municipality-3, Kaptanganj of Sunsari over the use of DJ music. The dispute turned violent, leading local authorities to open fire, resulting in one fatality and nine injuries. In protest of the incident, people held demonstrations in Malangwa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi, on Monday. In a statement issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Home Prasad Ghimire, it was reiterated that “no one is allowed to use DJ music at any religious, cultural, social or personal events.”

The statement further warned, “If anyone violates this directive and uses DJ music, security personnel deployed for enforcement will seize the DJ equipment, sound systems, and vehicles used. Both organizers and operators will face legal action as per prevailing laws.” This notice serves as a clear warning to ensure compliance with the ban.
