Amresh Questions: Poor Are Not Receiving Treatment, Should the State Now Awaken Its Sensitivity?

Amresh Kumar Singh, a member of parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has criticized the state for lacking necessary sensitivity towards the public’s problems. Commenting on the incident where an elderly couple from Kavrepalanchok committed self-immolation in the Sun Koshi river due to lack of medical treatment, MP Singh raised questions about the government’s empathy on Facebook.

“If it is true that Kedarnath Parajuli and his wife from Kavre jumped into the Sun Koshi river after being denied treatment, this serves as a mirror to the state,” MP Singh wrote. “The wife was denied cancer treatment, and for both to jump into the river together is not an ordinary occurrence.”

He highlighted various issues faced by the poor, saying: “The poor have not received treatment, housewives have not obtained cooking gas, youth have not secured employment, farmers have not received fertilizer, and villagers cannot even find basic medicines like paracetamol.” He further questioned, “How is this state mechanism functioning? Shouldn’t the state show much more sensitivity in this matter?”
