Bhotekoshi-Trishuli Floods: Rescue Operations Continue, Death Toll Confirmed at Hundreds

The Nepal Police reported on Friday morning that the death toll from the flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa District has risen to 469. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Nepali Army has rescued a total of 883 people, including 350 individuals trapped in the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli Hydropower project. However, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has not released any detailed updates on the situation. The authority states that 977 people remain missing to date. Among the missing, 517 are foreign nationals. Personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, customs and immigration offices, as well as both Nepali and foreign tourists, are unaccounted for. The authority has deployed over 13,000 security personnel to conduct search, rescue, and relief operations.
