US Envoys Depart for Moscow and Kyiv in Bid to End Russia-Ukraine War

September 6, Kathmandu — Special envoys of US President Donald Trump, Steve Wittkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, are preparing to visit Russia and Ukraine. Their trip is planned as an effort to help bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. When asked by reporters, President Trump confirmed that these representatives are carrying a proposal aimed at ending the war. While Trump indicated that the US has put forth a substantive proposal, he did not disclose specific details.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also confirmed Wittkoff and Kushner’s visit. According to the itinerary, the envoys will arrive in Moscow on Saturday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and then travel to Kyiv on Sunday to meet with President Zelensky. Wittkoff and Kushner are actively engaged in advancing peace negotiations on behalf of President Trump. They have previously held multiple discussions in Europe, though significant disagreements persist between the warring parties. Russia continues to demand that Ukraine cede additional territory, a proposal Ukraine has consistently rejected.
