ANFA to Hold Sit-in Protest to Lift Suspension by National Sports Council

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), currently suspended by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), is set to submit a memorandum and hold a one-hour sit-in protest at the National Sports Council (Rakhap) on Tuesday, aiming to lift its suspension. General Secretary Kiran Rai stated that the memorandum will address the issues regarding whether fair play can resume and other football-related problems. The organization’s plan for the sit-in and a subsequent press conference was finalized after discussions with ANFA staff. (29 Bhadra, Kathmandu)

General Secretary Kiran Rai said, “There are matters related to lifting ANFA’s suspension. It is also about whether we can now conduct fair matches or not. We are submitting the memorandum to resolve all these football-related issues.” Following the submission of the memorandum, ANFA intends to hold the protest for one hour within the Rakhap premises, followed by a press conference.

FIFA had suspended ANFA on 10 Asar, citing third-party interference, an action that has left Nepalese football in a state of uncertainty. ANFA leadership claims that the government has not taken any steps to lift the suspension.
