Abhishek Shatters Rohit’s Record, Scores Fastest T20 Century for India in Just 30 Balls

Kathmandu, September 17 — Indian opener Abhishek Sharma set a new benchmark by scoring the fastest century for India in T20 international cricket. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, during the third T20 match against Afghanistan, Abhishek broke Rohit Sharma’s nine-year-old record by completing his century in just 30 balls. Previously, Rohit had scored a century off 35 balls against Sri Lanka at Indore in 2017.

After a cautious start, Abhishek adopted a highly aggressive approach. He unleashed a barrage of boundaries and sixes against top bowlers including Ajmatullah Omarzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Rashid Khan, reaching his century in only 30 deliveries. Abhishek finished with 108 runs from 34 balls featuring 9 fours and 11 sixes. His explosive innings ended when Rashid Khan induced a catch by wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

This century now stands as the fastest T20 international hundred ever scored by an Indian. At the time of this report, India had scored 164 runs for 2 wickets in 13 overs, moving strongly toward a formidable total.
