Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batsman Akbar Ali is set to represent Karnali Yaks in the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Karnali Yaks announced Akbar as their overseas player through their social media platforms.

Akbar, who captained the Bangladesh Under-19 team to a World Cup victory in 2020, recently won the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title playing for Rajshahi Warriors. Although 24-year-old Akbar has not yet had an opportunity to play for the senior national team, he has consistently delivered impressive performances in domestic cricket. He has accumulated 1,361 runs in 28 first-class matches, 2,222 runs in 106 List A games, and 1,180 runs in 86 T20 matches, showcasing his remarkable talent.

In the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League, Akbar was part of the Rajshahi Warriors’ championship-winning squad. His leadership was pivotal when Bangladesh Under-19 secured their maiden ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2020. Additionally, Karnali Yaks have retained the experienced Scottish spinner Mark Watt for the third edition of the league.
