PESX Wins 5-a-Side Women’s Futsal Championship

PESX clinched the title of the 5-a-side women’s futsal tournament held on Monday in Chyasal, Lalitpur, by defeating Student FC 1–0 in the final. Along with the championship, PESX received a cash prize of NPR 55,000, a trophy, medals, and certificates, while Student FC secured NPR 25,000 as the runner-up prize. Individually, Smriti Bhujel of PESX was named the Best Goalkeeper, and Renuka Hamal of Crizal FC was honored as the Most Valuable Player.

The 5-a-side women’s futsal competition, organized by PESX Sports Academy, concluded with PESX emerging as champions by defeating Student FC 1–0 in the final held at R Square Game Station, Chyasal, Lalitpur, on Monday. In the third-place playoff, Crizal FC defeated Nakhipot FC 2–1. PESX was awarded NPR 55,000 in cash along with the trophy, medals, and certificates for their victory. Student FC received NPR 25,000, and Crizal FC, finishing third, earned NPR 15,000 plus trophies, medals, and certificates.

Yakthung FC was awarded the Fair Play Team and was honored with NPR 3,100 and a trophy. In individual accolades, Smriti Bhujel of PESX was declared the Best Goalkeeper, while Renuka Hamal of Crizal FC was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Both received NPR 3,100 in cash as well as trophies.

At the awards ceremony, Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, Deputy Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City and chief guest, emphasized that such tournaments play a vital role in providing competitive opportunities for women athletes. She highlighted that sports contribute to boosting women’s confidence, leadership skills, and social empowerment, urging for continued organization of such events. Sangita Karn, founder and chairperson of PESX Sports Academy, explained that the competition was held to provide a stage for women players to showcase their talents. She affirmed PESX’s ongoing commitment to the development of women’s futsal and enhancement of player skills in the future. The organizers reported that the tournament featured participation from 12 women’s teams.
