Nepal’s Santoshi and Purnalakshmi Finish Last in Women’s 5000m at 20th Asian Games

October 4, Kathmandu – At the 20th Asian Games, Nepal’s Santoshi Shrestha and Purnalakshmi Nyaupane delivered disappointing performances in the women’s 5000-meter race. The event took place at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya City, Japan. Among 12 participants, Purnalakshmi finished 11th and Santoshi came in 12th, both placing at the bottom of the rankings.

Purnalakshmi completed the distance in 17 minutes and 0.60 seconds, while Santoshi finished in 17 minutes and 53.17 seconds. Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi secured the gold medal with a time of 15 minutes and 10.18 seconds. Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka claimed silver, finishing in 15 minutes and 11.65 seconds, and India’s Parul Chaudhary took bronze with a time of 15 minutes and 14.61 seconds.
