
First Dashain Table Tennis Tournament Concludes
The inaugural Dashain Table Tennis Tournament, organized by Yal Sports Academy, was held on Saturday in Gwarko, Lalitpur. The competition featured four men’s categories based on age groups: over 30, over 40, over 50, and over 60 years.
In the over-30 category, Bilash Shrestha of APF won the gold medal by defeating Rajiv Chikambanjar, also from APF, in the final. Yogendra Maharjan from Kholcha Pokhari and Salim Tamrakar of AVM secured the bronze medals after finishing third.
In the over-40 category, Bimalraj Ghimire claimed the gold by overcoming Rajkumar Khadgi, who settled for silver. Ashok Maharjan of AVM and Dilon Shrestha from Kirtipur both earned bronze medals in this division.
In the over-50 age group, Jayram Maharjan of AVM took the gold, with defeated finalist Sangratan Dangol finishing second. Subodh Jonche from Bhaktapur and Madhyash Makai from Banepa were awarded bronze medals.
For players aged over 60, Prakash Dhakwa from Kholcha Pokhari secured the gold medal, followed by Ravindra Maharjan of Kirtipur with silver. Manohari Thapa and Sudarshan Prasad Gautam of AVM each earned bronze medals.
The awards ceremony and closing event were held under the chief patronage of Sikka Suwal Shrestha, Board Member of the National Sports Council. The program was attended by notable guests including Ward Chairperson Binod Maharjan of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-17, and Shiv Sundar Gothel, Secretary of the Nepal National and International Players Association.
