
Canada Commits $20 Million to Support Ukraine’s Energy Sector Amid Crisis
Canada has decided to provide financial assistance amounting to 20 million Canadian dollars to aid the reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the funds will be deposited into the ‘Ukraine Energy Support Fund’.
Since the end of 2025, Ukraine has been facing severe energy supply shortages, with daily power outages becoming a common occurrence. Kathmandu, March 19 — Due to ongoing conflict with Russia and natural disasters, Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has suffered significant damage. In response, Canada is offering approximately 14.4 million US dollars (20 million CAD) in financial support for rebuilding the sector.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Yulia Svyrydenko expressed gratitude for Canada’s continued support via her Telegram channel, confirming the funds will be allocated to the ‘Ukraine Energy Support Fund’. Ukraine’s energy supply has been severely disrupted since late 2025. The country has declared a state of emergency in its energy sector due to the extensive damage caused by extreme cold and war-related destruction. Currently, many regions experience uninterrupted daily power outages.
