
Preparation Completed for 14th National Rugby Sevens at Dashrath Rangashala
The 14th National Rugby Sevens for both men and women will be held on Chaitra 28 and 29 at Kathmandu’s Dashrath Rangashala. Seven teams from both men’s and women’s categories will participate in the competition. The event will serve as a platform to select the national team for upcoming international tournaments. The preparations for the National Rugby Sevens Championship have been completed by the Nepal Rugby Association, which announced this during a press conference on Friday. For the men’s division, teams from APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Karnali Province, Bagmati Province, Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province, and Gandaki Province will compete. On the women’s side, teams from APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Karnali Province, Bagmati Province, Madhesh Province, Sudurpashchim Province, and Koshi Province will participate.
The teams will be divided into two pools of seven each and will compete in a league-cum-knockout format. The estimated total expenditure for the tournament is NPR 3 million, and accident insurance worth NPR 125,000 has been arranged for the players. Both the men’s and women’s champion teams will receive trophies and a prize of NPR 50,000 each, while the runners-up will be awarded NPR 30,000. Additionally, the best male and female players will be honored with NPR 5,000 each. According to the association, the tournament will be instrumental in selecting players for the upcoming international events, including the 20th Asian Games in Japan and the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy to be held in Taiwan.
