Kalam Ali and Vasant Shahi Appointed Assistant Coaches of Nepal National Cricket Team

Kalam Ali and Vasant Shahi Thakuri have been appointed as assistant coaches of the Nepal men’s national cricket team. The Cricket Association of Nepal selected them for the assistant coaching roles ahead of the upcoming T20 International series against the UAE. This appointment follows Gyandendra Malla’s resignation from the assistant coach position after entering politics.

On April 19, Kathmandu – Kalam Ali and Vasant Shahi Thakuri have been assigned the responsibilities of assistant coaches for the Nepal men’s cricket team. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced their appointments on Sunday. Previously, Kalam served as the coach of the Nepal ‘A’ team, while Vasant has experience as an assistant coach of the national team.

The two assistant coaches have been appointed ahead of the T20I series and the upcoming League 2 series against the UAE. Currently, Kalam Ali was coaching Bagmati Province in the PM Cup Cricket, while Vasant Shahi was the coach for Lumbini Province. During the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Kalam served as the head coach of Chitwan Rhinos, and Vasant worked as assistant coach of Kathmandu Gorkhas. Earlier, the assistant coach role was held by Gyandendra Malla, who stepped down after joining politics through the Rastriya Swatantra Party. The two matches between Nepal and the UAE are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
