24 Baisakh, Kathmandu – Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwprakash Sharma stated that the Supreme Court’s interpretations must be respected by everyone.

He made this remark while referring to an ordinance that recognizes the agreement of three members in the six-member Constitutional Council as constituting a majority.

“Article 128(4) of the Constitution states that everyone must adhere to the Supreme Court’s interpretations,” Vice President Sharma wrote on ‘X’, “meaning that a majority must indeed be a majority.”

On 14 Jestha 2081 BS, the Supreme Court had interpreted that a minimum of 31 members in the 60-member Gandaki Provincial Assembly is required to form a majority.

Vice President Sharma reminded that universally accepted democratic standards clearly align with this, except in the case of North Korea.

He also posed a question to Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) Chairman Ravi Lamichhane.

“In words, they say – ‘correcting past mistakes,’ but in actions, do they seek to follow North Korea?” he wrote mentioning Lamichhane, “Responsible friends should reflect seriously. Let no one bear the stain of deeds that even the 80-year judicial history of the Panchayat era did not carry.”
