Congress Spokesperson Announces All Central Committee Members Reject Party President’s Resignation

March 19, Kathmandu – Nepali Congress spokesperson Devaraj Chalise stated that members expressing their views at the ongoing Central Committee meeting are inclined to reject the resignation submitted by party president Gagan Thapa. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists following the committee session that began Friday afternoon.

“The party president’s resignation has been formally presented during the party meeting. Discussions are ongoing where members are voicing their opinions,” Chalise said. “Although the president raised ethical concerns, the majority believe that the situation must be managed, responsibilities taken, and the party rebuilt. Therefore, they feel the resignation should be declined.”

He also argued that the recent election results should not be attributed to President Thapa’s personal shortcomings. “The election outcome was not linked to an individual. It had been building up over a long time. We had only 50 days to manage the situation, and that limited effort was insufficient. That is why this result occurred,” Chalise explained.
