June 26, Kathmandu – The National Human Rights Commission has conducted an investigation into the crackdown during the September 8 protests and the following day’s events, and has published its report.

Under the chairmanship of commission member Lily Thapa, a committee was formed to investigate human rights violations related to the incidents on September 8 and 9.

This committee released its report on Wednesday.

Based on the committee’s findings, the commission has formally accused the then-government leaders Oli, Lekhak, and Gurung of human rights violations.

The commission has also implicated Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, in acts involving the release of prisoners from jail during the protests. It has recommended placing him under suspicion and conducting a detailed investigation.
