Federal Parliament to Present Fiscal Year 2083/84 Budget Today

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 today at 4 PM during the joint session of the Federal Parliament. Nepal follows a constitutional requirement to announce the annual budget every year on Jestha 15. This year, the government is preparing a budget that exceeds the previously set financial limit and is specifically focused on the middle class.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Swarnim Wagle will present the budget at 4 PM during the joint session of the National Assembly and House of Representatives. There is significant public interest in how the current single-party government, led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) which holds nearly a two-thirds majority, will frame the budget. The budget presentation program is expected to be attended by the Prime Minister, cabinet members, the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, the Governor, and others.

Before the budget presentation, the policy and program submitted by President Ram Chandra Paudel has already been approved by both houses. The government presented its policy and program to the Federal Parliament on Baisakh 28. Sources in the Ministry of Finance have indicated that this year’s budget will be larger than the initially set size. The government plans to focus the budget particularly on the middle class.
