
North Korean Women’s Footballers Emotional After Meeting Supreme Leader Kim Jong
North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong congratulated the players of Naegohyang Women’s Football Club, winners of the AFC Women’s Champions League, during a meeting in Pyongyang. Naegohyang secured the historic AFC Women’s Champions League title by defeating Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza 1–0. On the occasion, Kim also observed a friendly match between Naegohyang and North Korea’s U-17 women’s national team.
May 21, Kathmandu — North Korean women footballers were emotional upon meeting their supreme leader Kim Jong. The players of Naegohyang Women’s Football Club, the first North Korean club to win the AFC Women’s Champions League, were personally welcomed by Kim in Pyongyang this week, leaving them filled with joy and emotion. Kim embraced the players and posed for a group photograph with them.
On May 23, Naegohyang Women’s FC clinched the AFC Women’s Champions League title by beating Japan’s Tokyo Verdy Beleza 1–0 in the final held in Suwon, South Korea. This achievement marked the club as the first North Korean team to win the competition. According to North Korean state media, Kim congratulated the team on their historic achievement and also watched a friendly match between Naegohyang Women’s Club and North Korea’s U-17 women’s national team.
