Arghakhanchi’s ‘Rock Garden’ Emerging as a Popular Tourist Destination
The ‘Rock Garden’ located in Sandhikharka Municipality-11, Divarna, Arghakhanchi, has recently become a major attraction for domestic tourists. To ensure convenience and comfort for visitors, the local government has developed infrastructure including restrooms, resting areas, and temples. Sandhikharka Municipality has also devised plans to boost economic activity by bringing tourists from Lumbini and Supa Deurali directly to the Rock Garden.
The site is accessible within approximately a 20-minute journey from Sandhikharka. Visitors are mesmerized by the naturally shaped massive rock formations, the garden-like rocky terrain, the clean and cool breeze, and the changing weather. First-time visitors to Rock Garden are often astonished by the unique rock structures found there.
Chetanarayan Acharya, the Ward Chairperson of Sandhikharka Municipality-11, noted that the increase in tourists due to promotional efforts is a positive sign. He stated, “This area, a natural treasure, is increasingly attracting domestic tourists. We are focusing heavily on infrastructure development to manage this growth effectively.” The municipality is engaged in planned actions to develop the site as an organized tourist destination.
Municipality Chief Krishna Prasad Shrestha expressed, “Our goal is to develop the Rock Garden as the district’s primary tourist destination. Alongside tourism development, enhancing the income of local residents and expanding economic activities are our key objectives.” He added, “We plan to attract tourists visiting Lumbini and Supa Deurali by linking them through Khanchikot Bhagwati Temple, Rajya, Sandhikharka’s Siddheshwor Temple, and Argha Bhagwati, which will further increase tourist numbers.”
