Kushal Bhurtel Named Player of the Series in Asian Games Cricket Qualifiers

Kushal Bhurtel of the Nepal national cricket team has been declared the ‘Player of the Series’ in the Asian Games men’s cricket qualifier tournament. Bhurtel delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a total of 340 runs in four matches, including two centuries and one half-century. In a rain-affected final, Nepal defeated Hong Kong via the DLS method to clinch the tournament title. Kathmandu, June 8 – Opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel from the Nepal cricket team was named the ‘Player of the Series’ in the Asian Games men’s cricket qualifier. Demonstrating excellent batting form, Bhurtel amassed 340 runs across four matches, featuring two centuries and one fifty, finishing as the highest run-scorer of the tournament. In the opening match against China, he scored 129 runs off 43 balls, striking six sixes in a single over. In the second match against Malaysia, Bhurtel made 126 runs off 54 balls, becoming the first Nepalese player to score back-to-back centuries. Against Oman in the semifinal, he contributed 20 runs, and then played a crucial role with 65 runs off 40 balls in the final against Hong Kong on Monday, laying the foundation for Nepal’s victory. In the rain-interrupted final, Nepal defeated Hong Kong under the DLS method to secure the championship title.
