A New Era of Economic Development Begins in Nepal

May 31, Beijing – Foreign Minister Shashir Khanal announced progress in investigating long-standing major corruption scandals. During his official visit to China, Minister Khanal, who arrived in Beijing on Sunday, addressed an interaction and honor event organized by the Nepalese embassy for the Nepalese diaspora, emphasizing that the government has prioritized eliminating corruption. He also highlighted that the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RaSWaPa) government is actively implementing its election promises of good governance.

“We had committed to investigating old and significant corruption cases. Since the formation of our government, a task force has been established to advance investigations related to corruption and asset laundering issues post-2006,” Minister Khanal conveyed. He noted that those who ruled for a long time failed to provide the country with proper administration. To ensure smooth public service delivery, the government is focusing on incorporating technology.

Furthermore, Foreign Minister Khanal introduced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new application, ‘MOFA Mitra,’ designed to listen to and promptly resolve complaints from Nepalis living abroad. He stated, “If Nepalis face hardships or other issues abroad, registering through this app will immediately coordinate with embassies to initiate resolution processes. We are motivated to undertake result-oriented actions that will soon be tangibly felt by the public.”

Minister Khanal also discussed the government’s election pledges and commitment to good governance: “After coming into government, we are focusing on two main election promises. First is good governance. Our conclusion was that previous administrations failed to deliver proper governance. Second is public service delivery, which should be convenient and hassle-free for citizens. To achieve this, we are prioritizing digitization and the use of technology.”
