Denis Undav’s Two Goals Propel Germany into FIFA World Cup 2026 Knockout Stage

Denis Undav’s two goals secured consecutive victories for Germany, ensuring their advancement to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Germany secured a 2-1 win against Ivory Coast. With this victory, Germany collected 6 points in Group E, guaranteeing progression to the knockout rounds with one match remaining. Frank Kessi gave Ivory Coast an early lead in the 30th minute, but Undav, who came on as a second-half substitute, scored twice to overturn the result.

July 23, Kathmandu – After entering the field in the second half and scoring twice, Denis Undav helped Germany stage a comeback victory over Ivory Coast, winning 2-1 in a Group E match held Sunday morning in Toronto, Canada. Undav scored the decisive goal in the fourth minute of injury time. With back-to-back wins, Germany has secured a spot in the knockout phase with a game to spare. Germany leads Group E with 6 points from two matches and will face Ecuador in their final group game.

Ivory Coast, who suffered defeat in their opening match, sits second in the group with 3 points and will play against Curaçao in their final fixture. Undav replaced Jamal Musiala in the 60th minute and scored his first goal in the 68th minute to level the match. With the score tied, Undav netted the winning goal in the fourth minute of injury time, assisted by Felix Nmecha, delivering Germany their second consecutive victory. Undav, who has been outstanding throughout the World Cup, also scored in Germany’s commanding 7-1 win over Curaçao in the opening match.
