Iranian President Arrives in Islamabad for One-Day Official Visit
Kathmandu, June 23 – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, for a one-day official visit. On Tuesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed President Pezeshkian at the airport and accorded him a 16-gun salute. The formal reception ceremony images were released by the Iranian government. To ensure the Iranian president’s security, six Pakistani military aircraft provided protection during the visit.
During this visit, President Pezeshkian is expected to hold discussions with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and other senior officials. Pakistan has been playing a mediatory role to prevent a potential conflict between Iran and the United States. In this context, the first phase of peace talks between the US and Iran recently concluded in Switzerland on Monday. Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, a participant in the talks, hailed the negotiations as successful and historic. Pakistan’s mediation efforts have been widely recognized and praised by the international community.
