Australia Secures Spot in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final
Australia has confirmed its place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final. In the first semifinal held on Tuesday, Australia defeated the West Indies by eight wickets. Chasing a target of 126 runs set by the West Indies, Australia completed the chase in 13 overs with the loss of only two wickets. Beth Mooney remained unbeaten with 61 runs, while Ashleigh Gardner was not out on 35.
After losing the toss, the West Indies were sent to bat and managed to score 125 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Hayley Matthews top-scored with 30 runs, while Deandra Dottin remained unbeaten on 26. Shemaine Campbell contributed 22 runs, Qiana Joseph added 16, and Jannillea Glasgow scored 15. For Australia, captain Sophie Molineux, Ashleigh Gardner, and Georgia Wareham took two wickets each, with Annabel Sutherland claiming one wicket. Australia’s women’s cricket team has now won the T20 World Cup six times and will face the winner of the England vs South Africa match in the final.
