Labour Minister Requests UAE to Eliminate Redundant Police Verification for Character Certificates
Labour Minister Ramji Yadav held a bilateral meeting with Abdullah Said Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamsi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During the meeting, both parties agreed to effectively implement the provisions of the labour agreement. Minister Yadav urged the ambassador to simplify the process for Nepali workers traveling to the UAE by removing the cumbersome requirement of obtaining character certificates from the police twice, thereby creating a more convenient environment for the workers.
Ambassador Al Shamsi informed that on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, 111 Nepali detainees were granted a general amnesty. Minister Yadav expressed his gratitude for this support. He also emphasized the need to effectively implement the agreements under the Nepal-UAE labour pact. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of reducing foreign employment costs, promoting skill development partnerships, and ensuring the health and safety of workers through practical measures.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to cooperating closely to implement the labour agreement’s provisions effectively. Ambassador Al Shamsi also pledged to coordinate with the UAE government on other key bilateral issues and provide relevant updates, according to the Labour Ministry.
