Precautions for Safe Storage of Gas Cylinders

Nowadays, LPG gas is available not only in city markets but also in remote rural areas like Dukhkham village. This has made kitchen usage more convenient, but improper use can sometimes lead to various problems. There have also been many instances of gas cylinder explosions. Therefore, it is extremely important to store gas cylinders properly and safely.

Cylinders should never be stored lying down and must always be kept upright. Lying a cylinder down can affect the regulator and valves, increasing the risk of gas leakage. They must not be placed in hot locations or in direct sunlight, near gas stoves, or close to heaters. Excessive heat can pose a risk of cylinder explosion.

Gas cylinders should not be kept in poorly ventilated or air-restricted areas. It is best to store them in open spaces with good airflow. Keeping cylinders in areas with low ventilation or enclosed spaces increases the risk. They should not be stored below ground level where heavy gas might accumulate, such as basements or underground sections.

Cylinders must be placed upright on a sturdy surface, preferably in open areas. Ensure the regulator is properly installed and check that pipes are not bent or broken. Regular inspection of gas pipes, just like the cylinders, is mandatory. If there are signs of pipe deterioration or suspected gas leaks, conduct careful testing. Always use quality regulators and pipes. Attention should also be given to the connection points where the regulator is attached, as problems may arise there as well.
