Azrantha Mendis Appointed Head Coach of Pokhara Avengers

Pokhara Avengers have appointed former Sri Lankan cricketer Azrantha Mendis as the head coach for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League. The management has entrusted Mendis with this responsibility, hoping that his international experience and technical expertise will elevate the team’s performance. Highlighting the growth of cricket in Nepal, Mendis expressed his goal to work closely with players and management to build a strong team.

Kathmandu, 3rd Shrawan – Ahead of the third season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Pokhara Avengers have designated Sri Lanka’s former international cricketer Azrantha Mendis as their head coach. With the objective of making the team more competitive in the upcoming season, Pokhara Avengers announced Mendis’s appointment. Recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s successful spinners, Mendis has represented his country across all three international formats of cricket.

Known for his mysterious bowling style, Mendis delivered an outstanding performance during the 2008 Asia Cup, where he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. His pivotal role helped Sri Lanka secure the title. Amit Lohani, General Manager of Pokhara Avengers, expressed confidence that Mendis’s international experience, technical knowledge, and leadership qualities will propel the team to new heights.

According to Lohani, Mendis’s arrival will not only improve the team’s performance but also contribute to the development of young players. Upon his appointment, Mendis expressed happiness to join the Pokhara Avengers family.
