March 22, Kathmandu – The central working committee of the Nepali Congress has rejected the resignation tendered by party president Gagan Kumar Thapa, who took moral responsibility for the party’s election defeat.
The meeting held on Friday and Sunday at the party’s central office in Sanepa adopted the proposal to reject Gagan’s resignation. The proposal was presented at the meeting by Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma.
Spokesperson Devaraj Chalise confirmed that the resignation proposal was rejected.
In the statement issued by spokesperson Chalise, the party outlined eight key reasons for rejecting the resignation.
Considering these reasons, the meeting decided to reject the resignation:
– The primary causes of the election loss lie in structural problems and circumstances beyond control.
– Amid the current complex national situation, the leadership of President Thapa is deemed essential.
