Prime Minister Narendra Modi Highlights Agreements Reached with Seychelles During Visit
During Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Seychelles, formal agreements were reached between the two countries on 19 significant topics. Prime Minister Modi underscored the successful implementation of India’s digital payment system UPI in Seychelles and highlighted agreements related to essential medicines as key achievements of the visit. India will provide Seychelles with crucial supplies, including fast patrol boats, ambulances, utility vehicles, rice, and cement, as part of the cooperation.
On June 29, Kathmandu – In a post on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “This visit to Seychelles has yielded many important accomplishments, and multiple significant agreements have been signed. These include the introduction of India’s digital payment system (UPI) in Seychelles and agreements related to essential medicines among other areas.” He further added, “We will continue collaborating in areas such as climate action, green hydrogen, energy, the blue economy, and other future-oriented sectors.”
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, a total of 19 subject areas were covered in the agreements signed during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Seychelles. The accords ensure that India will supply essential materials to Seychelles and formally establish the operation of the UPI system in the country.
