US Launches Airstrikes on Iran; Iran Vows Courageous Retaliation

June 25, Kathmandu — The United States has initiated a new phase of attacks on Iran. Following these latest airstrikes, former President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, “This is in retaliation for the bomb attack Iran carried out on a ship yesterday. If it happens again, the consequences will be even worse.” According to Iranian state media, explosions have been heard in several locations in the southern region of the country. The port cities of Sirik and Bandar Abbas, near the Strait of Hormuz, have reported sounds of blasts. Other coastal areas such as Konarak and Chabahar have also experienced explosions.

Iranian state television reported eight explosions in Bandar Abbas and two missile strikes at the Sirik and Jask ports in southern Iran. The media also mentioned two strikes on Abu Musa Island, a location long disputed between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Iran has activated its air defense system in Bandar Abbas. Full details of the damage caused by the US strikes have yet to be disclosed. While American sources have not released comprehensive damage reports, Iranian outlets have reported power outages in Chabahar and a fire at the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) barracks in Bushehr.

Iran has not yet issued an official response to the recent US attacks, although senior officials have previously warned of immediate retaliation to any act of aggression by the US. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) described these strikes as efforts to further degrade Tehran’s capability to threaten freedom of navigation through a critical waterway. In a statement, CENTCOM declared, “The United States holds Iran responsible for the recent improper attacks against commercial vessels and civilian crews freely transiting this crucial international waterway.”
