Shivani Mehla, a police officer from Lahaul-Spiti, confirmed the death of 13 individuals due to the landslide.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his grief over the incident through an Instagram post.
He stated, “I am deeply saddened to hear that 13 people died on the spot and two were injured when stones fell on a Tata Sumo vehicle. The pain of losing loved ones is indescribable.”
“At this difficult time, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the grieving families to bear this unbearable pain.”
Upon learning of the incident, Chief Minister Singh instructed officials in Lahaul and Spiti to make adequate arrangements for the treatment of the injured.
