Fishermen Rescue Elephant Calf Swept Away in Teesta River

A group of fishermen rescued an elephant calf that was swept away in the Teesta River in West Bengal, India. The calf was caught in the strong currents while crossing the river towards its grazing area.

The fishermen, who live along the banks of the Teesta River, rowed approximately four kilometers by boat to reach the calf. After the rescue, they handed the calf over to the forest officials for further care.
