March 26, Kathmandu – In the UEFA World Cup European Playoff Path ‘B’ semifinal, Sweden secured their place in the final by defeating Ukraine 3–1.

The match, held at Estadi Ciutat de València in Valencia, saw Viktor Gyokeres emerge as the hero for Sweden, scoring three goals in the 6th, 51st, and 73rd minutes to complete his hat-trick.

The first goal came from an excellent assist by Benjamin Nygren, while the second benefited from a long pass by goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

Gyokeres converted the third goal from the penalty spot after a save by Ukraine’s goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin led to the penalty opportunity, which Viktor confidently converted.

Ukraine’s Matviy Ponomarenko scored a consolation goal late in the game, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Meanwhile, in the other semifinal of the same Path, Poland defeated Albania 2–1 to reach the final.

Although Albania’s Hoxha scored first to give his team the lead, Poland’s Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zieliński netted goals to secure the victory for their team.

The winner between Sweden and Poland in the upcoming final will earn a berth to the World Cup.

From Path ‘C’, Kosovo and Turkey have already secured places in their final, while from Path ‘D’, the Czech Republic and Denmark have advanced to their final.
