
Nepal Telecom Reports Profit Increase of NPR 305 Crore in One Year
Kathmandu, 19 August – Nepal Telecom, a state-owned telecommunications company, recorded a profit increase exceeding NPR 285.79 crore in the fiscal year 2082/83. According to the company’s unaudited financial statement, Nepal Telecom’s net profit reached NPR 886.46 crore during this period. This marks a significant rise from the NPR 567.00 crore net profit reported in the previous fiscal year 2081/82, representing an increase of NPR 285.79 crore year-over-year.
The company also saw noteworthy growth in its pre-tax profit. For the past fiscal year, pre-tax profit stood at NPR 1,326.47 crore, rising by NPR 341.45 crore compared to NPR 985.02 crore reported in the prior fiscal year. EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) increased as well, climbing from NPR 1,849.60 crore in the previous year to NPR 2,048.01 crore last year — an increase of NPR 198.41 crore.
Nepal Telecom’s operational revenue and total income also reflected a positive trend. Operational revenue for the fiscal year rose to NPR 3,495.04 crore, up NPR 105.59 crore from NPR 3,389.45 crore in the preceding year. Likewise, total income increased by NPR 101.15 crore to NPR 3,919.96 crore from NPR 3,818.81 crore recorded in the previous year. Despite a reduction in bank interest rates leading to a decline in interest income by NPR 8.62 crore, the company witnessed an increase in core telecommunications revenue, particularly from GSM services, which saw a rise of NPR 6.45 crore.
