MP Renuka Kaucha Urges Inclusion of Nepalese PUBG Team in Asian Games

Member of Parliament Renuka Kaucha has demanded that the selected Nepalese PUBG team be immediately allowed to participate in the Asian Games, emphasizing the need to create a conducive environment in the House of Representatives. She expressed shock over the decision by the Nepal Sports Council (RAKEP) to remove the PUBG team from the Asian Games list, criticizing the administrative disputes and differences between esports associations. Kaucha drew the attention of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and RAKEP, stressing that players have been forced to seek legal recourse due to these issues.

Kathmandu, August 18 – During question hour in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, MP Renuka Kaucha insisted that the selected PUBG team be included immediately in the Asian Games. She stated that no open manipulation should take place at the expense of national pride. “It is wrong to disrespect the hard work, sweat, and honor of our youth in this manner. An atmosphere should be created so that the selected PUBG team can participate in the Asian Games without delay,” she said.

Kaucha expressed astonishment over RAKEP’s decision to remove PUBG from the Asian Games, saying, “Nepal has a young Prime Minister and a young Minister for Sports, but ironically, young athletes are caught in administrative confusion. The Nepalese PUBG team has successfully secured their place in the 20th Asian Games after winning qualifying contests held in Vietnam, yet RAKEP’s recent decision to exclude them from the list is shocking.”

Highlighting the administrative turmoil, conflicts between two esports associations, and irresponsible policies of sports bodies, Kaucha described it as extremely unfortunate that young athletes have been forced to approach the courts. “Our talented young players, who came close to winning medals in the previous edition and are training day and night this time with firm determination to win for the country, are now trapped by administrative entanglements. The dispute between two esports bodies and negligent policies of sports authorities leading athletes to knock on the door of the judiciary is deeply regrettable,” she said. “Through this parliament, I wish to draw the attention of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and RAKEP.”
