
Nepal Police and Sabhapokhari Volleyball Club Reach Final of Madan Bhandari Cup
16 Ashoj, Butwal – Departmental team Nepal Police Club and Sabhapokhari Volleyball Club have advanced to the final of the second Madan Bhandari Cup International Invitational Running Shield Men’s Volleyball Tournament currently underway in Butwal. In the semifinal match held on Friday at Butwal International Conference Center, Nepal Police Club defeated another departmental team, APF Club, 3–1 sets to secure their place in the final. Police secured victory with scores of 21–25, 28–26, 25–16, 25–19.
In the last match of the group phase on Friday, APF defeated India’s Gujarat Sporting Club 3–2 sets to qualify for the semifinals. APF won with results of 21–25, 25–18, 25–16, 17–25, 15–12. Meanwhile, in the other semifinal match, Sabhapokhari beat Khaira Volleyball Club Punjab 3–1 sets to earn their spot in the final. Sabhapokhari won against Khaira Club by 25–20, 25–16, 23–25, 25–15.
The final title clash between Police and Sabhapokhari will take place on Saturday. Khaira and APF, who were defeated in the semifinals, will compete for third place. Organized by the Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, the tournament featured a total of seven teams, including three foreign teams and four from Nepal. The championship-winning team will receive the running shield and a prize of NPR 700,000, while the runners-up will be awarded NPR 350,000. The third-place team will earn NPR 175,000, and a consolation prize of NPR 75,000 along with a trophy, medals, and certificates will be given out, as announced by the tournament organizer and academy president, Dhruv Acharya.
Additionally, the tournament’s best player will receive NPR 15,000. Individual awards will honor the best spiker, setter, server, blocker, defender, and best coach, each receiving NPR 8,000 as recognition, according to the organizers.
