Kimjong Bose Among 17 Arrested in Widespread Anti-Gang Operation


March 21, Kathmandu – Police have launched a comprehensive operation against gang-related crime. Following the new mandate and the government’s increased activation, individuals involved in gang activities are being apprehended and investigations are advancing.

With the commencement of the operation, police have arrested gang-affiliated individuals and initiated formal investigative procedures, authorities reported.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) and Kathmandu Police Office jointly detained suspects involved in gang activities and begun inquiries.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Khadka informed that on Friday night alone, 13 individuals were arrested from various locations within the valley. These detainees are currently under investigation.

According to the Crime Investigation Department, those arrested include Ashok Gari, Sanjiv Lama, Suresh Gurung, and Kimjong Bose. In total, 13 individuals were taken into custody during this phase.

Additionally, the Police Headquarters reported the detention of five other individuals with investigations underway. Among them are Prabin Gurung of Shyam Lama’s group, Birju Maharjan, known for gang activities in Bafal area, Sunaj Karki from Kalanki, and Saru Humagai of Syuchatar.

Police have also recently been detaining intermediaries amid investigations. This heightened police activity responds to growing complaints regarding increased middleman involvement in various government offices.
